Frameo or Skylight? They actually solve two different problems

Frameo and Skylight are often compared, but they are different products: Frameo is a digital photo frame your family sends photos to, while Skylight Calendar is a wall calendar display. Here is the honest comparison — plus a Nordic alternative, Zenframe Display, that does both and is built for European families.

Order Zenframe Display

  • Frameo: photo frame, not a calendar. Frameo frames do one thing well: the family sends photos from the Frameo app and they appear on the frame. But there is no calendar, no chores and no weekly plan.
  • Skylight: calendar, but US-centric. Skylight Calendar shows a shared calendar and chores, but it is sold primarily in the US — European languages are missing, shipping and import fees add up, and several features require the Plus subscription. See all the Skylight alternatives
  • Zenframe: both, built in the Nordics. Zenframe Display is a calendar display and a photo frame in one — with meal planning, chores, morning routines and calendar sync. One-time purchase with 1 year of Zenframe Family included. See the full Zenframe Display
  • Photo frame without a subscription. Like Frameo, the family sends photos straight from their phones to the screen. Photo mode needs no subscription — not even after the included year. Read about photo frame mode
  • The price gap once shipping lands. Skylight shipped to Europe passes €400 before the yearly fee, while Frameo has no calendar at all. Compare device, shipping, import and subscription together rather than the headline price. Zenframe as a cheaper alternative to Skylight
  1. Photos, calendar — or both?. If you only want photos on the wall, a Frameo frame is enough. If the family needs the week visible, you need a calendar display. If you'd rather not choose, some screens do both.
  2. One-time purchase or subscription on top?. Add up the price with shipping, import fees and any subscriptions. Skylight shipped to Europe quickly passes €400 plus a yearly fee. Zenframe Display starts at 2,490 NOK with 1 year of Family included.
  3. School schedules, sports and dinner. A family display earns its place when it answers the morning questions: who goes where, what needs packing, what's for dinner. Check that the screen speaks your language and syncs the calendars you already use.

FAQ

What is the difference between Frameo and Skylight?

Frameo is a digital photo frame: the family sends photos from the Frameo app and the frame shows them. Skylight Calendar is a calendar display showing a shared family calendar and chores. They don't really compete — they solve different problems.

Can Frameo show a calendar?

No. Frameo frames show photos and videos sent via the Frameo app, but have no calendar view, chores or weekly plan.

Is Skylight Calendar sold in Europe?

Skylight sells primarily in the US. Ordering to Europe adds shipping, import duties and VAT on top of the ~$300 price, the interface is English-only, and several features require the Skylight Plus subscription.

Is there a screen that is both a photo frame and a family calendar?

Yes — Zenframe Display does both: calendar, meal plan, chores and the kids' routines when things happen, and family photos sent from your phone when it's quiet. It is built in Norway, supports Nordic languages, and is a one-time purchase with 1 year of Zenframe Family included (3,490 NOK for 15.6″, 2,490 NOK for the 10.1″ Mini).

What happens with Zenframe Display after the included year?

The photo frame, clock and photo sharing keep working without a subscription. Calendar, meal plan and routines continue with Zenframe Family (12.99 EUR/month) — if and when you want.
