Activities for kids

Activities for kids — free printables and ideas from Zenframe

Activity Workshop brings together the best we've created for kids in every situation: the road trip, the rainy afternoon, the evening wind-down, the cabin week, and the ordinary afternoon at home. You choose the activity type, age, and theme — we generate a finished A4 sheet you can print on any home printer. Everything is free, and you don't need an account to download.

Activities for kids by age

Ages 3–4: activities for the youngest should require minimal reading and deliver a quick sense of achievement. Large coloring motifs, connect-the-dots with fewer than 20 dots, and picture bingo (no text) work best. Keep sessions to 15–25 minutes.

Ages 5–7: starting to read independently and able to follow simple instructions. Car bingo, beginner quizzes with pictures, riddles with illustrated clues, and mazes all land well. Can work on their own for 30–40 minutes once engaged.

Ages 8–10: ready for a real challenge. Activity booklets with a variety of tasks, factual quizzes, riddles where they read the clues themselves, and scavenger hunts they can solve alone or in pairs.

Ages 11–12: need activities that feel chosen, not assigned. Let them pick the quiz topic, give them a riddle sequence to work through at their own pace, or challenge them to design a scavenger hunt for younger siblings.

Activities for kids by situation

  • In the car or on a train: car bingo, riddles, quizzes, and activity booklets. No screens, no internet, finished by the time you arrive.
  • Rainy days at home: coloring sheets, connect-the-dots, mazes, and indoor scavenger hunts.
  • On vacation: summer bingo and scavenger hunts outside, activity booklets inside. Works without Wi-Fi.
  • Evening wind-down: riddles and puzzles read aloud together, or a short quiz the whole family joins.
  • Friends over: car bingo two against two, team quiz, or a scavenger hunt where one group sets the clues and the other solves them.
  • Waiting time and queues: an activity booklet in the bag covers long waits at the airport, a restaurant, or a waiting room.

Activities for kids by season

Summer: summer bingo, car bingo with summer motifs, scavenger hunts in the garden, and activity booklets for vacation. For the complete guide, see summer activities for kids.

Autumn: indoor activities for rainy days, nature observation walks, and seasonal quizzes. See rainy day activities for kids for a full list.

Winter: Christmas quiz, a Santa-themed riddle trail, and holiday bingo to play on the drive to family gatherings.

Spring and Easter: an Easter scavenger hunt and Easter bingo are classics that kids remember and look forward to year after year.

Indoor and outdoor — different activities for different settings

Indoor activities (connect-the-dots, coloring, mazes, quizzes) need only a pencil and a flat surface. They're quiet and calm, and work well for afternoons and evenings when you need something that winds kids down rather than revving them up.

Outdoor activities (summer bingo, scavenger hunts, nature observation) get kids moving and actively noticing the world around them. They're higher-energy and work best in the morning or early afternoon, before everyone gets tired.
