About this sheet
Summer bingo is a spotting game built around summery motifs: each board holds a grid of illustrated squares, and children mark off each one when they see it. They can play it on a day out, in the garden, at the beach or on a walk, looking for the real thing as they go. Because the squares are pictures, younger children who cannot yet read can play just as easily as older ones.
It suits the slower, unstructured days of the summer holidays, when children have time but quickly run out of ideas. Hand out a board at the start of an outing and it gives the whole trip a gentle purpose, with something to look for rather than a long stretch of boredom. It also travels well for picnics, camping and time at the caravan.
Summer bingo is one of nine bingo themes, alongside classic, dinosaur, pirate, princess, space, jungle, christmas and halloween, so you can swap themes across the holidays. Each theme comes in three age variants — ages 4 to 6, 7 to 9 and 10 to 12 — so the difficulty fits the child.
