Travel quiz for kids

About this sheet

A travel quiz is ready-made questions about countries, flags, capitals and landmarks, put together to be played on a trip. The questions are a mix of easy and a bit harder, so both the youngest and the oldest in the car or on the plane get to feel a sense of achievement. You read them aloud or let the children read them themselves.

The quiz is great when the journey gets long and the children need something other than a screen. It works just as well on the plane and the train as in the car, and needs nothing but the sheet and a pencil. Many bring it out when the older children get bored of car bingo and want a bit more of a challenge.

The sheet comes in several variants by age: ages 4–6 with simple flag and animal questions, ages 7–9, and ages 10–12 with capitals and famous structures from around the world. That way you can choose questions that hit exactly the group taking part, and siblings of different ages can each play their own variant.

You download the PDF for free, with no sign-up, and it's ready to print on a normal A4 right away. The answers are on the sheet, so a grown-up has all the answers to hand while you play, even with no internet along the way.

What you get

  • 20 travel questions on one A4 sheet about countries, flags, capitals and landmarks, with answers underneath.
  • Three difficulty levels — ages 6–7, 8–9 and 10–12.
  • Theme packs: Europe, the world, flags, famous structures and mixed travel.
  • One sheet per team, so the children can compete in pairs or against the grown-ups.
  • Bonus questions with extra points to break a tie between teams.

How to use it

  1. Choose theme and age. Choose whether the quiz should be about Europe, the whole world or just flags, and set the age to the youngest taking part, so the questions are pitched right.
  2. Print before you leave. Print one sheet per player or team at home on a normal printer. Pack the sheets in the bag with a pencil, so they're ready to bring out once the journey begins.
  3. Run the quiz along the way. A grown-up reads the questions aloud, or the children read them themselves. Let them think a little before they answer, and count points at the end. The answers are on the sheet.
